This week we are treated to a techno infused Dusk Dubs special from the very talented Hew who is not one for words, or to build an ego, but is happy to express himself while playing music which is the perfect personality for Dusk Dubs.
Hew has built his skills from being a resident at Club night's 'Great Friday' and 'Fundamental'. Both of these nights are very diverse and have provided him the ability to adapt to any genre across the Techno / House / Electronica field, be it a Progressive warm up set or peak time Techno.
He has performed on line ups with artists such as Aeroplane, Hector Couto, Cari Lekebusch and Alan Fitzpatrick.
Although happy to play what is needed of him , Hew created 'Cassini' with friend and other artist 'Kole' for the platform to express their own ideas musically. Putting on techno and progressive nights in Manchester, focusing on the vibe and music...not to mention visuals, artwork, podcasts, radio shows... the list is endless, which is why we are very honoured to have him select for us.
You can find out more about Hew and Cassini here :
As always, catch us most nights on twitter via #DuskDubs ... and feel free to get involved.
Below is a word from this week’s selector himself:
‘Thank you for asking me to produce a selection of tracks for Dusk Dubs :)
The selection starts off more melodic / proggy, and then gets more toward the stuff I play regularly - Dub Techno, I love the space created with Reverbs / Delays.
The tracks are a mixture of what I play in clubs and a few that I have yet had the opportunity to. 'Home feat Daniel Wilde' is a very powerful, soulful track. I can't ever imagine playing this out, however much I love it. It's off Tiefschwarz - Chocolate (artist album of own productions).
I like the more Progressive / Techno side to Dub as when I normally play these kind of tracks it will be a set or mix that I want to build / flow perfectly.
The track by 'Krisz Deak' is from a label called 'Deep in Dub', every track they release is amazing. It was also hard to pick a track off Krisz Deak's newest release, as each track stands alone.
I've ended my selection with a track featured on the infamous film 'Berlin Calling' (If you haven't seen it, and would love to see a fun / meaningful film based around a DJ / Producer in Berlin, I urge you to source it). Paul Kalkbrenner - Azure, in my opinion a perfect track to end any mix / set. It brings your energy levels back down to Earth with the soothing melodic bassline and incredible synth sounds, and always seems to create happiness :)
